Inflatable Group Critique

For our inflatable we made a jellyfish. Overall it was a great success. Our location couldn't have been better; a jelly fish right by the fountain! There were a few problems though. The first would be our jellyfish was a little lumpy but we did our best in trying to create dome. Another small problem was our tentacles kept being blown under our jelly by the wind. Maybe if we would have had air moving through them the would have stayed put. The sign we made definitely helped people to know it was a jellyfish even though the tentacles weren't always super visible. The last minor problem was our vent hole at the top should have been a little bit bigger so we would be able to close our door all the way.

Anyway if i was able to perform it  the loner balloon was going to float away...
my metaphor was: "Friends are balloons, If you dont hold them tight enough they float away."

Here goes my story line and mapping projects

As for my critique for this piece: I was told that i did a poor job on hiding the wood at the top of my piece (i honestly forgot that there are taller people in class xD)
I should of colored in the missing glass space with black.

Metaphor Proposal #3

this is the first one i did

Metaphor Proposal #1

My first proposal for the metaphor. The two half circles is a tub split in half and the circles on top of them are balloons

Uncomfortable Video And Critique

Ill start with the bad things first:
It was said that I should have saved looking directly at the camera until the very end of the video and it reminds people of the movie Jeepers Creepers.
The good things said:
the camera angle made my eye look like it was going into my skull and popping out. My eye looks uncomfortable. The video was abstract.

Final Monologue

here goes nothing

HmWork Part 2

The items i chose were:
Sight: family, grades, what the future could be, what i hope for the future to bbe
Sound: Laughing, phone calls, the sound of my brother mother sister and father, sighs gasps the clicking of a keyboard
Touch: Familiar embraces

2D HmWRK part 1

The 15 objects that I envisioned were: my dog, gumballs, raffel ticket machine, my moms car, a ferris wheel, rain, a windmill, basketball, my nephew, a bat (the animal), sparkler, a tornado, a thunderstorm, and a giant ball.
1) Actually I am about the same when visualizing people and objects its just when I havent seen a object before that it gets a little tough.
2) I am better at 3D objects interestingly enough. My imagination likes 3D when i try 2D..... nope just 3D xD.
3) its only when i envision nature do i actually have something of a background but other than that its floating in nothingness.
4) Hopefully its somewhere else because its kinda blank when i envision things.
5) In my field(animation) I would think it would be needed because say my boss wants me to design a character but he only gives me the bare necessity of what he is looking for. It is up to me to take what I a given give it a personality and a place. The mind is a great tool.

White space photos

Ill save my breath with an excuse on why there are only 3. Afterall, Excuses Are....

Modular Madness Proposal

here are my modular madness proposals in the end I chose to do the bottom one the top just wasnt that interesting to me after i had sketched it out...

Cardboard 3d proposals

In the end this was chosen as the design I was to do...

Story Line Revised~

Dear Indie:
I do realize that this is some real bullshiz that I put myself through.  I go to class and I get work done. Most of the time I do rather well. Sometimes I do truly wonder what would happen if I rather than cross this line that I have pushed unto myself  fall short of it, of the expectation. I believe that that is what truly scares me: the expectation.
I strive to do well for myself, I truly do. I also strive for my parents and my brothers who didn't get to finish. I strive mostly for my little sister. I don't really know if she still looks up to me like she did when we were little but regardless of that she still has a image of me. Whether that image is good or bad it is there. If I were to fall short of this line that I hold worlds above myself what would she think? Can I afford to let her down? If I fail will she still look up to me will that childhood image of the older sister disappear?
I strive for my father's half of my family as well. No Moore has graduated yet and I am supposed to be the first. What if I let them down? Yeah they still have 3 other children to go through but that mar in my image is gone. I am but their temporary hope and I hope myself that I don't let them down. I don't necessarily like this all eyes on me thing. Maybe its in my head but its there nonetheless and I have learned to live with it.
To fall short of the line would be to destroy part of myself that many people want to see in me. And honestly I am not too entirely sure that I wont fall. Until I do I'll have to keep striving and hoping and praying that I never fall short.

Modular Madness!! Before and After

This was my initial plan for the piece it was to come out of the ground and out of the wall....
The white of the cups blended into the wall so it kind of disappeared...soo.
OBVIOUSLY I changed its location !!

During the critique of my piece I was told that I should of probably used the cups with design on them to put forth the vision of a actual church. I should of made it taller and I should of used some of the design cups for the snakes. I called it "Snakes in Eden"

MarkMaking part 2

Enjoy the marks!!
This assignment was somewhat enjoyable!

PS: I finally found the antishake for my camera wooo!!

Modular Madness Critique

Materials:
I do believe that because I used styrofoam cups that the piece works well. I am 100% sure that the piece could be made from other items styrofoam cups were just the most financially sound for me at the moment. I would love to try using some other medium! The actual use of the styrofoam cups was not really my problem it was the STATIC!!! I would like to see where to put things in advance and the cups would stick to my hand rather than the actual piece! We worked out our differences by the end. I discovered that I could indeed make bends and curves with styrofoam cups WITHOUT bending them. Hooray for playtime!
Concept:
I believe that I managed to keep the material's function and purpose in tact. Cups hold things, mainly drinks, except these cups prefer to hold each other! I do not believe that the viewer's view of the styrofoam cup is changed. Well maybe the viewer might want to build a rollercoaster out of cups!
Craftsmanship:I believe the way the piece is put together does not hurt the piece. I think it may draw away from some points but the points are still very noticeable in my opinion.
Process:
I do not believe my piece beyond average scale or materials (though I did use ALOT  of cups). My piece did change quite a bit from my initial imaginings. It was supposed to have legs and some kind of eye in there but I turned the legs to tentacles and made some crosses and built the illusion of a dome around it. Then the more I got into the piece the more it started to remind me of a church and the tentacles reminded me of snakes. (I'm seeing some symbolism here o.o ( completely unintentional by the way)) I believe that my piece is more ambitious in its final stage as it has more to it than my initial concept. The ending result is more ambitious in my opinion because what would of been a bunch of cups on legs turned into a bunch of cups  with psychedelic wiggly arms turned roller coaster turned snakes with crosses.
Form:
The two most dominant elements would be shape and color. The elements are important to the piece because of the where the piece is situated. My piece is near a stark white color and is set down on the brown mauve looking floor. As for the shape the coils draw the eye to it.
Similarity/difference and unity are both implied in the work. Crosses and snake like objects are in the piece seemingly living in harmony yet they are both similar and different in the meaning. You cant have one without the other.
Presentation:
I chose where my piece was because I have these white styrofoam cups next to some dismembered lawnmowers. and the white of the cups contrast well to the floor. I think my piece notices that the others are there but is like " HEY WORLD LOOK AT ME" kind of because you have all these colors around and in the middle you have something that is colorless.

I chose these three criteria firstly because I had a war with myself choosing exactly what I wanted to use. I started to think plates then I went to spoons then I thought about legos. The list is endless Concept wise I did not know what I was doing until after I had started and made some altercations as I went along this process. I also chose Craftsmanship because I had the hardest time choosing what  and how to bind. Toothpicks were brought to my attention and it didnt work to well with me. I tried paper clips that didnt go over so well either. After the failed attempts I went and cried in the shower (ha Kathy) and went with the ever so tempermental hot glue gun.

my two dots and my nakedness o.o

sweet memories
As for the critique for our group, here it is:
Theme/Human element:
For our theme and meaning I believe it is quite obvious that we went with streakers. However, streaking was not our initial game plan we used paint and made our dots a little too abstract to get their meaning through. As for the human element what better way to show that we are human than to be as naked as the day we were born? We gave ourselves a 5.
Craftmanship:
For craftmanship we gave ourselves a 4. Instead of getting the actual photo files from Katy we got the picture files from her blog and the result was a grainy pixelated picture instead of the clean crisp pictures we should of had. Also those of us who did use the blog  picture there was a white strip that draws the eye away from our compositions.
Whitespace:
For whitespace we gave ourselves a 5. With Katy's quick thinking we used some tarps and laid them out  and then Katy oversomething (so not a photography major so Ill spare myself the embarrassment) so you would not be able to tell that the floor was not white.
Selection/Revision:
Luckily we had Katy so we only had redo a few shots. I was kind of sad because the original composition that I had wanted to do was darn near impossible but I am still happy with my results.
For Group effort we gave ourselves a 3. We had a absence and a lack of communication but once we got started we were on a role!

Human Dot Compostions: The Streakers!~

In this one I had a fascination with Katy's camera and wanted to watch it blink... I am amused by the smallest things xD

This was our second attempt at the human dot composition project. Our first attempt had burst into flames before we even finished. It was too abstract and the message of our dots wasn't going through.
In our second attempt we appear as naked as the day were born... just with umbrellas! Hana's and Alex's poses are great right? And Dante was just too funny! This project got me out of my comfort zone just a little wooo! I am definitely keeping these as memories!
